Entrance Redesign
Design, Planting

A couple with a young son wanted their paved parking space refreshing and more garden in the front for a tree and a few shrubs to look out onto from the lounge window. It appealed to them for us to clean up and reuse the driveway pavers which anyway had to be lifted to solve some movement in the ground beneath. Susan produced a design with a specification for the landscaper to build a new hard standing and with a wider area for planting predominately in the shade but which also catches the evening sunshine. Access to the windows for cleaning needed to be addressed and a cover for the wheelie bins was sourced by the client. The ground had also dropped in the pavement so it was decided best to tarmac patch to make it safe for pedestrians. The ground was sticky yellow clay so new soil had to be imported and improved in order to establish new planting. Spring bulbs were set out and planted in the autumn for cheerfulness in late winter.

"We asked Susan for help with our front garden which was rather a drive way than a garden. Susan listened carefully to our ideas and encouraged us to create a green space, even though it is small. She came and measured and then drew plans for us and suggested lots of plants for a north facing, shady area. With the help of a landscaping company the garden was created and Susan came back for planting. The whole process took a few months but it was so worth it. I enjoy our front garden every day and can highly recommend Susan's services. She is a great communicator and clearly a very experienced gardener."
